Report:
Wife and I went gold prospecting near my old claim outside the south east corner of Yosemite National Park.

We planned a 2 week trip, but only stayed the first 2 days.

In May, sometimes we have to stop and asked a ranger if the snow is clear and if we can get in the high country, the ranger lied and said the roads were closed and no way to get where we wanted to be.

We decided to drive up the mountain and see just how far we could go, and there was no snow, and the roads were clear all the way to camp.

We set up camp and had dinner, then watched a small plane circle my camp 2 times and left, then 1/2 hour later, a Chopper circled the camp 2 times and left close enough to see the pilots.

Then we went to bed and watched a movie before sleep, after the movie, my wife screamed out, LOOK AT THAT !!!

I looked thru the clear plastic roof of the tent and saw a glowing disk about 30-40 ft across, hovering above the camp just above the tree tops.

No need to say how excited we got. I was going to grab my camera and a gun and go outside to check it out, but then a bright light beamed down on us and we both passed out at the same time.

We woke up in our bed the next morning, and started talking about what we saw, and how strange it was that we passed out during so much excitement.

The 2nd night we saw it again, but no plane or chopper this time. It followed the same path as the first night, and we still had no chance to grab the camera or gun which was right beside me.

Day 2, we decided we had had enough, and we tore down the camp and went home, too afraid to stay for the 2 weeks we had planned.

I had my own gold claim in that area for 20 years, and I am not easy to frighten, but I never saw anything like it, and hope I never do again.  I will not go back to that area, unless it is to take investigators up there and I'm not going to stay long.

The Area: township 6-S. range 24-E. section 7, Mount Diablo Meridian, Madeira County CA. 2 miles south west of Lower Chiquito Creek campground, and about 25 miles west of Mammoth Pool.
