Flying Cryptids: Witness Sees "Strange Flying Bird" Over Birmingham, Alabama

I received an email from a witness in Birmingham, Alabama, who had a strange encounter with an unknown flying creature, while out walking his dogs.

I feel silly writing to you,but what I saw tonight has me a little shaken. Tonight, while walking our two dogs, I looked up at the moon and saw a giant bat like bird. I say bat like because of its pointed wings. It was huge! My initial thoughts were that no bird could possibly be that large and that high up in the sky. If I had not been staring up at the moon I probably would have missed it completely. The color appeared black or brown. It was dark in color. Easily missed in the dark sky.

This has freaked me out so badly that I've been googling all sorts of stuff that it could have been:(

The next evening he wrote:

It was larger than a man. It was more like the size of a small plane. It was huge! I couldn't tell if it had a head or tail. What I noticed was the wings looked like bat wings. Almost pointed like and webbed. I would have missed it if it had not soared by the moon. It was very fast.

I looked and looked tonight I have to admit I did walk the dogs a little faster than usual. I'm still a little spooked.

Please note that the witness did not give me the exact time, so I am not sure if it was before midnight on the 27th, or after midnight on the 28th, that this sighting occurred.   One thing is certain,  whatever this was it has the witness on edge.

There have been a number of sightings of Pterosaurs / Pterodactyls, also known as a Ropen.  These sightings range all around the North American continent, from Canada to Texas.  They also been seen in Hawaii, Papua New Guinea and Cuba.

What is it that people are witnessing?  Did these creatures survive the extinction of the dinosaurs and later, the Ice Age?  Or could they be extra-dimensional, coming into our reality from another time, another world?

From Pterodactyls; flying Manta Rays; Jellyfish; Thunderbirds and flying humanoids, to Moth Men; people are seeing not only unidentified craft but also flying creatures. 
I've seen some strange things myself, so I certainly can't laugh this off as vivid imaginations.  So, what are these creatures?  Maybe someday we will know for sure.  For now, we can only speculate.

Bat-winged creature seen by family in Washington State

I received an email from a witness in Washington State, who claims to have seen some type of flying creatures that made a meal of their cats. 

Now normally I would suspect the usual culprits, eagles, owls, etc., but the witness claims these creatures have no feathers, that their wings are bat-like and leathery, with claws on the upper area of the wings, allowing them to cling to trees.


In the first email, the witness reported:
We live in the Pacific Northwest on many acres of mostly tree covered land with a creek.  We have seen and heard a strange nocturnal, bat-like creature.  This thing is huge, light grey, skin with no fur, feathers or scales.  It silently swoops down at you with giant bat wings.  It makes a sound like a jungle monkey or bird, thus we refer to it as the monkey bird. 

We keep our chickens and goats, small dogs and cats safely housed at night, however two of our cats who sneaked out one night onto the roof disappeared without a trace of fur, blood or any evidence of what exactly happened.  They wouldn't run away, and our outdoor watch dogs don't allow any coyotes or ground traveling predators anywhere near us. 

There were two of them together and they seemed fearless of me when they swooped down at me more than once and returned way up to the top of the highest trees.  I couldn't get a look at the faces or eyes, mainly the huge grey bat-wings approximately 4' span .are what I could see.  They seem to show up every summer always after dusk anytime through the night.  Locals don't seem to know about them.  I might ask the local Native American Indian tribes to see if they know anything about these creatures. 
Do you know of anyone else who might know what these things are?   My brother and I saw another weird bat-like creature two summers ago that was also quite bizarre yet not like these huge ones.  We were riding our bikes at dusk and this black guinea pig sized thing with bat wings with holes all through the wings ran across the dirt road in front of us and under a bush.  We don't know anyone who has seen anything like that either, but we DID see it. 

We see regular little, common bats all of the time after dusk so we know what they are like.  We know owls, hawks, eagles and all of the normal flying creatures around here and these others are definitely out of the ordinary.

After talking with Lon Strickler of Phantoms & Monsters, who suggested it could be a Eurasian Eagle Owl, I pressed the witness for more information and told the witness that it could be as Lon suggested.

The witness reported back:
Thank you for checking with your colleague.  Are the owl wings shaped like bat wings?  Do they cling to the sides of the trees?  Do they make a sound like "Hooooowhahhhhhh, aaahooooowahhhh!  with the wah like the rolling of your tongue?   Also the skin on the chest and wings was grey, mottled with some brownish color like a Mexican hairless dogs skin, and it had like visible blood veins kind of like protruding on the skin area. 

Where can we find a picture of the Asian eagle owl and find out what it sounds like?  These might be moulting or sick or something.  We would love to solve the mystery, and know more about them.  Please let us know if you find anymore info.  Thank you again.

I also said: We have to rule out the plausible explanations.  If it isn't an owl, then what we have is an "unknown".  If you can get any locals to talk about it, they may give you some clues.  I will do some research but I need to know at least your general location.  The Pacific Northwest is a large area.  I lived a year in Tacoma (Ft. Lewis) but never even saw an owl.  Meanwhile, if you find out anything or can get a photo of these things, please let me know!

Thanks again for your help and research.  It is truly appreciated.  We are [location removed by SW/LITS] in a large forested area with a huge creek running all through it. 

We looked through and listened to all of the owl/eagle info and enjoyed it very much.  I can say with certainty that these things were definitely not owls, eagles, vultures or anything like them.  I guess no one would believe us unless they saw them and heard them.  These are real. 

They have huge bat wings with the claw type thing on the top of the wing that helps them clutch the tree.  It is true that they don't seem to flap like a regular bat would.  They quietly swoop and glide.  They sound like those african jungle monkeys and you can see skin, no feathers, scales etc. 

I'm sure these have got to be categorized as unknown.  Maybe someone has been doing some weird genetic experiments with wildlife and releasing them to see what the survival rate will be.  Maybe an environmental mutation. 

We will try to ask others who spend time after dusk in the forests, (if we can find anyone like that these days) whether or not they have seen or heard anything like this.  We will let you know right away if we learn anymore about this.

Here is what happened, normally I am not home during on weekdays during working hours, however my childcare (nanny) was sick and I didn’t have a back-up. Anyway, we went to the boardwalk so I can run a few miles and my daughter loves being pushed in her running stroller… sorry Anyhoo, I was deciding which way I would run first, I enter the Staten Island Boardwalk on Seaview Avenue and Father Capodanno. I turned toward the east and all of a sudden from nothing to a flying object that looked like a STINGRAY it moved like a stingray, it was the same color as a stingray. To me, it appeared to have like a light green and pale pink energy around it and it also appeared DISTRESSED…. It was barely moving and I watched it until it vanished…. It didn’t fly away fast it just became invisible, or I want to say transparent with the clouds. As I mentioned it appeared distressed, and I am not the only one who thought that because the police helicopters were searching, several helicopters for a very long time… I thought I saw it again over the Verrazano bridge, but again in a second it was transparent again. I could see the energy around this thing and it was amazing… Also, as you will be able to see in the photo, there was NO plane pulling it!!!!

Explosion in NW Louisiana not a meteor, or ammo explosion

There is a coverup going on in Louisiana and it appears to be on the scale of the Roswell conspiracy.

Monday, October 15 at 11:30 p.m., an explosion rattled the small town of Minden, in Webster Parish, Louisiana. Before the explosion, witnesses report seeing lights and flashes in the sky, including low flying fighter jets.   One witness saw a strange craft and reported it to MUFON.  That report is included below.

Local Webster Parish Sheriff Gary Sexton said, "Definitely had something happen."  He added, " that all the explosion manufacturing facilities and natural gas facilities in Webster Parish are ruled out as a cause."

The local meteorologist goes on to refute the meteor theory, saying, "Checking with the National Weather Service, if it were a meteor, and yes we are in a meteor shower period, the Orionids, but I don't think there would be a piece of that, that would make it to the earth without vaporizing.  But if it did, radar did not pick up a streak, which it normally would."

He goes on to say, "But, we had an eye witness report who left her home in Dixie Inn, to drive to find whatever it was that hit and she reported ashes falling onto her car but they were heavy enough that they sounded like small hail. The weather service did confirm right after that explosion, their radar picked up what would be called a low cloud, or a debris field."  He also states that the radar picked the debris up, through four revolutions.

With the dawn of a new day, Tuesday morning, October 16th, the coverup had begun. The story now is that a bunker exploded at local military munitions plant (Camp Minden), despite the previous statements made by the Sheriff, ruling out the possibility of a munitions explosion.

An anonymous photographer captured aerial footage of the aftermath, which clearly shows 2 impact points, debris and an idle train that was also impacted and blown over. Despite what the claims are, the train was not moving at the time. The video is evidence of that as well.

was outside cleaning out pickup truck, walked toward porch, bright blue light caught my eye, stopped and watched as craft flew from over house toward NW. ran inside, got my wife, but it was gone. hours later, heard loud boom, shook house, news channel reports the same in 40 or so mile raius of my house. NWS reports debris cloud, and debris plume of mile high around dixie inn louisiana. drew as detailed a picture as i could. did not scare me, no terrifyinf feeling, glow was almost warm in nature.

Jellyfish-like UFO Over Dallas, TX - 9/15/2012

Good Afternoon-

My name is [name redacted]. I'm not really sure if what I saw was a UFO. Ive searched for days now to see if there were any other sightings in Dallas,TX the night of September 15, 2012. It was about 10:45-10:50 pm. I expected to see a news report or something on tv talking about what we saw. It was pretty big. But nothing. I read a lot about sightings and honestly, im not even sure if what i saw fits the description. I am a religious person, and I'm not sure if what i saw was alien or super natural. There were about 10 of us that saw this. I wanted to know if you could give me any suggestions on trying to see if there were other reports in my area.

After replying and asking for a detailed description of what they saw, the witness replied:

Thanks for the quick response.  I was inside a mechanic garage when the others first spotted it outside. A little boy about the age of 5 started pointing up to the sky and asked his dad to look at.  When he did this, everyone that was standing outside looked up and saw a very bright "thing" in the sky.  They said that it came over the top of the garage and it was huge.  It was very low and looked like it was going to land on the ground.  They said it appeared to be very bright on the bottom and around the sides and at first appeared to pulsate going from small to large.  At one point it looked like it was flapping wings-but not in the shape of wings.  Someone yelled for me to come outside and look at this and when i got to front of the garage (where the door was pulled up)I looked up into the sky and I saw something that looked like a jellyfish without the tentacles.  It freely flowed in the sky in a shapeless form (very large). It then formed a circle and ascended up.  It did not have the typical movement described by others as a UFO...it appeared to move slowly (like a jellyfish) upward; but faster than an airplane.  It ascended up in the shape of a circle.  You could see the circle form until it disappeared. 

It frightened some people there. I think because when it first appeared over the top of the one story building, it was extremely large.  For some reason, I wasn't afraid. I was convinced it was something not natural to our world.  I felt it was more of a spiritual nature.  Once I started looking online to see if there were any other sightings, I found that some have reported seeing UFO that look like jellyfish.  I asked if there could have been something chemical that created what we saw. The fact that everyone said that at one point it appeared to flap like wings made me dismiss this theory. 

I saw a meteor streak back in February 2012.  It was widely reported here in Dallas. I was walking my dog and it flew right above my me in the sky.  It moved very quickly.  Whatever it was that we saw did not move fast like that.  It almost seem to float.  Anything you can do to help is greatly appreciated.

8/19/12 - Went out to my patio to relax and think about a song arrangement I was working on. Lied down on my spa edge looking up into sky directly above my house. I have a fairly broad view of the sky from this specific vantage point (watched meteor shower last week from here)...

Our home is on an approach for planes landing at Love Field, so planes are often in the sky at various elevations. This was NO plane event.

Directly in my line of sight, I saw what at first appeared to me to be a triangle-shaped object silently moving across the sky. After about five seconds I realized that it was multiple (separate) objects moving together in a triangular or V-shaped formation (think boomerang). They were moving at a fast, consistent speed, completely silent.

The V-shape formation was broken however, meaning that one of the points of the V was missing a lighted object. Then I saw 2 additional lights further back and off to the side a bit that were also moving consistent with the V-formation group of objects.

Again, the whole group was absolutely silent. Based on my viewpoint and calculations, the objects were significantly high in the atmosphere. All of the objects emanated a blue color (about the size of medium-lit stars).

At about the 10-second mark of watching, one of the 2 objects (that were out of the formation) literally dashed into the formation (completing the V-shape), darted about, then dashed back to join the other single object. What was really, really freaky is that this object dashed abruptly at an extremely fast speed, darted erratically, then back to its original position.

I estimate the whole group of objects were moving around 4-5 times the speed of any plane. We have a lot of planes so elevations and speeds of planes are routinely easy to gauge.

I watched the whole group for about 20-seconds before they moved beyond our tree line.

This was the most amazing thing I have ever seen. Ever. It was nothing short of unbelievable. In checking this morning in the news, no reports have surfaced. I cannot possibly be the only person who witnessed this in a city of millions.

Even if military, the speed and movement of one of the objects was WELL BEYOND anything we know of in the public realm. NORAD, the control towers for two major airports in the area HAD to have tracked these objects!

NOTE:  I also received an email from a witness who saw up to 50 white lights moving across the skies of Texas City, Texas, on August 18, 2012, at approximately 12:00 midnight.  He and 10 other people watched as several groups of lights traversed the sky.

The witness indicated that he felt the white lights were outside our atmosphere.

We left out of town headed to Texas City,Tx for my brothers Birthday party...As we were at the party having a good time my wife and i walk outside..and like always look for ufos,but this night around 12:00am we get way more then we can image..It was a fleet of them flying in numbers up to 20 a set,for 30mins or more they came that way..we see them here at our place all the time one or two at a time,but never in this number...we call everyone out to come see what we are seeing...and like always some was denied what they were witnessing..A plane hell naw,not and that number without blinkers or were going to war,clouds moving making it look like there moving,just stupid,these were some of the what ifs..But i say UFOs..I just want to know if any one else in that area witness this...No lie

I asked a few questions and he responded:

ok,i was headed from east texas,Karnack Tx,to Texas City,but we dont see them till my brothers party that night, these ojects had to be out of space..there were some as bright as the eye can see and some so small u can barely see..headed south of texas city texas austust 18 2012,they were right over our heads..but out of space like...12 dozes of white bright dots and dill dots,right behind each other,some spaced out

What u think they were....there's no way we were the only ones who saw that..it was just to many for them not to b seen

If it was military why would they fly so many at one time,they were circle shape white dots,hell it was ten of us watching them...it was at lease 50 flying altogether if u really was able to count them,they came in sets of at lease 12,flying off in the distance,then another set come right behind the last...they were too far in the sky to not of been out of space..Out of this world, Yes indeed..

LITS Investigator Observes Unidentified White Light - Big Spring, Texas, 8/29/2012

While on her way home from a vacation trip, a LITS UFO Investigator spots a UFO while talking to me on the phone.

I immediately stepped outside to see if I could see anything.  Our skies were clear, the moon near full (Friday, August 31 will be a "Blue Moon").

I used my binoculars, yet I could not see any anomaly.  I looked first towards the moon and then looked to my W/SW. 

I did briefly observe (with the binoculars), a bright orange light, located at approx. 60 degrees AGL,  175 degrees South.  It was visible for approximately 5 seconds and then it disappeared.   This object was not the International Space Station, which had already passed overhead at 8:38 p.m.

Note: Big Spring, Texas is approximately 90 miles (as the crow flies) from my location near Breckenridge, Texas.  Big Spring is  W/SW of Abilene.

The LITS Investigator immediately emailed me a photo of the object, then one showing it's direction of travel.  I then enlarged the objects in the photo.  [Note: All photos have been adjusted for size. I am in Big Spring, Highway 87 south of the city limits. It was not dark enough for stars to be visible yet.

I first sighted a light slightly larger than a bright star above the moon and the flight pattern seemed flat as if it was going away from me, not straight down. It went into or behind the wispy cloud there, below the moon but did not emerge on the other side. 

The time was very close to 8:50pm, and I observed it for just over a minute.

I pulled up my live sky chart and made note that the ISS was in very close proximity to the object (after the object disappeared), but the flight pattern was not the same.

The object seemed to be going away from me in a flat pattern and I was puzzled about not seeing any other colored lights.

I was talking to you at the time and juggled up the iPad for a picture.

Editor's Note:  My first thought was that it might have been an airplane preparing to land at the Big Spring McMahon-Wrinkle Airport, located West of Big Spring.  However, the investigator clearly stated that the object was moving away from her.  Unless FAA regulations have changed, airplanes do not have landing lights on their tails and no navigation lights (red/green on wingtips, or white beacon lights) were visible. -SW

Security Officer Observes Lights In Sky Near Canyon Lake, Texas

Hello, Sunny. I work nights, as a  resort security guard, south of you at Canyon Lake. About 3 weeks ago at 5:17am, I witnessed two flying orbs. It was predawn, and I was outside looking at Venus. Very low thin clouds were at somewhere from 1800 yards to 5000 yards up. I regularly watch big planes on landing approach to San Antonio, in this area of sky. Without a sound, this soft white orb appeared, directly in that flight path, but heading the opposite direction. A much brighter and focused spot light appeared from under the orb, pointed to the left, onto the top of a thin cloud. As the orb moved away, the spot made a short sweep and then went out. The white orb, still moving, then disappeared. 1 second later, a second orb appeared. It was at the same spot where the first orb illuminated, but just to the right of that spot. It was also a soft glow, but the color was a neon lavender. It traveled parallel to the path of the first orb, but when it reached the spot where the first light went out; it made an impossible, smooth right turn and vanished. This entire event took about 5 seconds. If I had not been looking exactly at that spot, I would have missed it.

In addition, the witness further explained that he was facing Northeast during the sighting, adding:
It is a canyon and valley, leading down to the guadelupe river, on River Road. Sattler, Tx is a mile away. My best, well thought out guess is this. Those two orb/lights would be larger than a house, and traveling at jet aircraft speeds. Pretty neat to see, after 50 years of sky watching!

I received an email from a witness, who while vacationing in La Follette, Tennessee, saw bright orange lights in the night sky.

The previous evening, friends staying at the same vacation home saw the same (or similar) lights.  One of the friends provided the original photo.

I enlarged and cropped the original photo. I then enhanced the image to see more of the object.

Sometimes the would stop and hover.  I could not hear engine noise.  I had three separate sightings within a 15 minute period at approximately 11:00 PM on July 14th, 2012.  A friend saw an object like this in the same location the night of July 13th.  She took a photograph.  I did not know of her sighting until I told her family about my sighting this morning.

My sightings:  I saw the first object traverse the sky in a meandering and sometimes zig-zag fashion.  It disappeared - I assume in the clouds.  Less than five minutes later I saw the object, or one just like it, appear and travel the same trajectory.  Both objects stopped and hovered at times.  The were very bright orange.  The second object appeared to ascend straight up very rapidly and in a few seconds it appeared like a pinpoint before disappearing entirely.  A few minutes later, two of the bright orange objects appeared together - again traveling the same trajectory.  They did not fly in a pattern uniform with each other.  They appeared to move closer and then farther away from each other.  At times they hovered simultaneously, and at times one hovered while the other meandered.  One disappeared in the manner similar to the first object I saw, and one disappeared in the manner as the second object I saw.

When the objects switched direction, there was no arc to their pathway.  Their motion was similar to that if a yo yo.

I was staying at my sister's vacation lake home.  The friend who took the picture on July 13th was also staying in my sister's vacation home.  She was with two other friends who also saw the objects.

Summary: Large Pulsating object craft or large orb. A total of 4 witnesses in all one was an officer and two were neighbors.

While getting ready to lock up the house I realized my wife had accidentally left the garage door open. As I walked outside to close the garage door I looked up and noticed a large flashing-pulsating object in the sky to the South. At that time I observed planes moving through the sky near the object. The object stayed stationary and was close enough for me to see many brilliant lights flashing from the object. When I observed a plane fly near the object I believed the object was as large as a large passenger plane. I notified the neighbors next door and they were witnesses as well. They were a little shocked to see the object as well and all of us agreed it was doubtful to be a drone or plane. The object moved some distance but very slowly. I then notified the police and an officer came out and also observed the object. He shined his flashlight at the object as well but there was no response. I was able to take some pictures and some video as well. The object did not leave the area for nearly 2 hours. The oddest thing was as as planes were close to the object it looked like the object was as large as a large passenger plane but when the object moved further South it looked like a large pulsating orb. Triangle Observed Over Van Alstyne and Denton, Texas: July 24-25, 2012

Two witnesses report having seen a triangle-shaped craft in the night skies over Texas, July 24th and 25th, 2012.  Could this have been the same object?

This is exactly the same craft I reported earlier this year. It moves very slowly , but this time it was directly above me and did emit a very low rumble that I did not hear the last time I saw it. It came from the southeast and moved north west and then turned slightly more northwest after passing my position. It appeared to be heading in almost exactly the same direction after the slight turn , as it had traveled the last time I saw it. Their was no other aircraft in the immediate area this time and the Ruby red light in center mass which I saw last time was not on ( or visable )

As I was doing my occasional star gazing on the patio of my apartment I noticed a hovering triangle like object approximately around 12:30am. At first I thought It was a satellite but noticed that it wasn't conventional moving across the sky instead it was creating hovering like motions as well as moving back and forth and even covering up other stars in the night sky.

Surveillance Camera Captures Orb Near Breckenridge, Texas

I was checking the videos from my surveillance camera and aside from the usual bug zipping by the lens, looking exactly like all the flying rods I've seen on countless videos, there was nothing much of interest, until...

Suddenly I began noticing that several videos were void of the usual bugs and there seemed to be no movement, that would lead to the triggering of the motion activation.  As I watched each video, I suddenly came upon the one that you see above.

In the video, you see an orange light at the far left of the screen.  It appears to drop down over the top of the fence, pause, then move out of frame.

The light appears to be an orb that is generating light.  The light is reflected off of the chain link fencing and the T-post.  The post is 5 feet high.The object appears to be approximately 1 foot in diameter.

I did not see the video as it was being recorded, however, shortly after that, I let my dogs out into the fenced area.  The dogs began barking and my usually tough older, larger dog started barking like he was afraid.  I open the door and he nearly knocked me down trying to get into the house. 

I stepped outside and looked around, thinking maybe our cat was in the yard.  I saw nothing to indicate that anything was around.

After examining the video, I watched each subsequent video.  None of those videos had any indication that the object was still in the viewable area.  Whatever it was, it had vanished, or simply flew away.

What this object is, I am not certain but it does seem to match the many orbs and spheres witnesses are reporting.

Video of Lights Over Gulf Near Pass Christian, Mississippi

While looking through a plethora of YouTube UFO videos, I happened upon this one that I thought was interesting.

The video was taken on Beach Blvd, Pass Christian, Mississippi, at approximately 5:55 pm on February 12, 2012, by YouTube user "TONIamazing".  There was no written info, however, the videographer mentions location, date and time at the end of the video.

The sky is gray, overcast.  The object is apparently some distance away, perhaps 2 plus miles from shore.  According to the Google Map (included below), there are small islands between 5 to 10 miles out.

 The witness presumed that the object in question disappears into the water but instead of keeping his camera on the object, he pans down to the water and remains focused there for several seconds.  When he focuses back to the sky, of course the object is gone.

If the object had entered the water, presumably there would have been indication of some sort.  My theory is that it either simply turned it's lights off, or zipped off into the clouds.

Watching the video, I at first assumed that the lights were simply an aircraft approaching shore but the object does not seem to be moving forward.  However, it banks to it's left and then it's right before disappearing.

I've seen quite a few videos of objects, with what appear to be two headlights.  Many of those craft remain unidentified.  Could this be a case of mistaken identity, possibly a known craft from the not too distance Naval Base or local airfield?  Or is it some yet unknown, or alien craft?  I'll leave this one for you to decide.

Columbia, Missouri Cigar-shaped UFOs

I received a report composed by 3 witnesses who had a daylight sighting of 3 cigar/pill-shaped UFOs, over Columbia, Missouri, June 20, 2012. 

One of the witnesses contacted me and requested a report form.  Here is that report.

Flight path: 2 objects travel East to West; 1 object West then South and ascends into clouds.
Weather conditions: Partly cloudy

Witness report:

On Wednesday, June 20, 2012, my best friend (name redacted) and I (name redacted) were sitting outside on my back porch. All of a sudden (name redacted) pointed to two objects in the sky and asked if they were planes.  I looked closely and could see that they were not planes and that they looked very suspicious.

My first thought was that they could be blimps, but then I realized that blimps can't travel that high.  They were located in the sky but directly in front of where we were sitting at the time.  At that point, we went to get her boyfriend (name redacted), who has a lot of aircraft knowledge, to tell us what they were.

It was approximately 8:01 pm when this took place.  From this point on, we were all standing in the yard to get a better view.  The objects we saw looked like pill-shaped objects.  They were white in color and seemed metallic.  You could even see clouds reflecting off the side of them.  They were moving across the horizon faster than any aircraft I have ever seen.  They did not have any lights, wings, or contrails.  They moved from the east to the west.  There were no clouds in this part of the sky.

Those two objects continued traveling towards the west together, in very close proximity to each other, that they maintained the same flight path, at the same speed.

Then as we continued to watch, a third identical object appeared from halfway across our visible horizon.  It seemed to appear from no where but looked exactly the same as the other two.  This came to a great surprise to us and we couldn't believe our eyes.  However, this one went a different course from the other two.

It started out heading towards the west and then all of a sudden, changed it's direction and from our perspective, looked like it headed south in the sky.  This immediate direction change did not appear like something that modern day aircraft can do.  It was climbing altitude so rapidly, that it did not seem possible that it could be a plane.

The first two objects that were traveling together, had already disappeared out of our view at this time.  The last one disappeared in it's climb through the clouds.

These objects did not make any noise.  If (name redacted) would not have been staring directly at the sky, then we would have never known they were there.

This whole series of events took place in about 90 seconds.  It was daylight out and they were easily able to be seen by us all.  We watched them the entire time they were able to be seen from our perspective.  We were all in disbelief of what just happened and immediately documented what we had seen so we could keep the details straight. 

After that, we started doing some research on the internet to see if anyone had ever seen anything like this before.  We found a similar case described in Southern Missouri, near Nixa.  Then we realized that we just sighted an unidentified flying object and wanted to report it to someone to investigate further.

We feel honored to have the opportunity to witness these events but also felt that it was our responsibility to pass the information on.  I also asked all of my Columbia friends if they had seen anything like this on the same evening over Columbia via Facebook and never got any reports of anyone else in our area seeing it.

Video - Red/orange Lights Near Conroe, TX - June 9, 2012

I received a video and report from a witness near Conroe, Texas, who on the evening of June 9, 2012, witnessed and videoed red/orange lights in the sky.

I have edited the video, removing a conversation between the witness' mother and a neighbor, concerning the lights in the sky. -Sunny

Report from witness:
I would like to report something i saw in the night sky of Texas.
It was Saturday, June 9 about 60 miles north west of Houston. It was approximately 9:30 p.m. Our neighbor called and told us to go outside and look at the sky.

There were approximately 20-30 reddish orbs in the northwest sky. These orbs were what we would expect at air traffic cruising level. There is a tree level and these were above that.

I have attached a video and i apologize it was taken with my cell phone. We watched them for about 4-6 minutes. I took two videos, this being the second. The first I took from directly out our back door and then walked out into the yard and took the second.

I think the most on the videos are like 5 orbs. They completely disappeared and then slowly re-appeared one at a time, they seemed to move from behind the tree line up into the sky (but never appeared like on the ground, just at a lower horizon level than the trees).

We fully expected to go inside and watch the 10 o'clock news and see that 15 Russian red weather balloons had been seen - LOL - but there was nothing on the news that night or the morning, or since.

We are located off Highway 105 west, approximately 20 miles west of Conroe.

I read your instructions and hope I have answered all necessary questions. Please let me know what you think.

Lights such as these are being seen all over Texas and indeed, around the U.S.  Many sighting might be explained as being Chinese (paper) lanterns but once they burn out, the lanterns do not reignite. -SW

Orange/red Orbs Captured on Video Over McKinney, TX June 2, 2012

I received an email from a witness who captured on video, up to 30 orange/red lights that appeared in the skies of McKinney, Texas, on June 2, 2012.

He wrote:

"Here's a video I shot of the event. These match the description of other sightings in TX, LA & MS."

"5 others and I witnessed approximately 30 large orange globes traveling northward along the eastern horizon at a high velocity and fixed altitude. No sounds emitted from the objects."

I asked the witness a few questions and he replied:

"First noticed the lights around 1130pm that evening. At first glance the lights looked like a series of orange moons hanging in the sky across the eastern horizon, right around the altitude of a commericial airliner on approach to land. Objects were traveling from south to north at a fairly high velocity, however made no sounds whatsoever. I watched them continue north until the trees got in the way. That was the last I saw of them."

I asked the witness if he thought they could have been Chinese lanterns.  Here was his reply:

"Same question the guy from Rense.com asked. These objects spanned the horizon from south to north and were maintaining altitude. While I am not 100% certain of anything, these objects do not fit the profile of Chinese lanterns.

This video shot over Albuquerque the night before, is nearly identical to what we saw, except we saw a LOT more of them:"

I've been asked, "what are these things?" and "do you have and explanation for what I saw?"

Well, no, I don't know for sure what the source of these lights are.  If they aren't Chinese lanterns, then they are either ours, or theirs.

I can recall a similar sighting that I had, just a few years ago. 

While I was driving in my pickup, on Hwy 183 (south from Breckenridge, TX), I was paced by two objects identical to these in the videos.  However, the ones I saw were much closer and they certainly were not Chinese Lanterns.

The objects I saw were orange/red in color, very bright and were most definitely intelligently controlled.

Months later, my husband and I witnessed a single object flying from east to west, apparently near I-20, headed towards Abilene, Texas, where Dyess Air Force Base is located.  Joe shown a 2 million candle power spotlight on it... and it disappeared.

Video: Red/orange Lights Over Hernando, MS - 5/26/2012

I received an email last night, from a gentleman, who along with his wife and parents, saw strange red/orange lights in the sky in Hernando, Mississippi.

Hernando, MS is located south of Memphis, Tennessee (I-55).

I corresponded with him and he sent in videos of that event.  Presented here, are those videos and the witness' report.

"My wife, my two parents and I saw something identical to this tonight in Hernando, MS. I also have video of it that I will send you if you'd like to see it."

After I emailed him back and told him I would like to see the video and read his report, he wrote:

"What we saw were several redish, glowing lights in the sky moving very slowly towards the northwest. We live close to Memphis, TN, so I see many planes day and night, and this was certainly not that. They flickered, move very slowly, and faded away slowly over about a 5 to 10 minute time frame. After seeing them, I googled "lights in the sky", and came across a video on your website that showed something very similar to what we saw. The video on your site was from Texas.  I will send the video of what we saw in a separate email.

Here is the video of what we saw tonight. It was around 9pm central time."

When I asked him about distance, size of the objects and if they could have been known objects such as 'Chinese lanterns', he replied:

"It's hard for me to estimate, but I'd guess they were about a mile away, probably 1500 ft high and the size would be smaller than a pea at arms length.

I would say that they did look like Chinese lanterns, although I've never seen them in this area, and they were moving against the wind. The wind was moving south/southeast, and they were moving northwest. They were what I'd guess Chinese lanterns look like though."

Conclusion:  Could these lights have been Chinese lanterns?  I don't know of any paper lanterns that can float against the wind.  The witness states that the wind was blowing in a direction opposite to the objects travel. 
There is yet to be a definitive answer, as to what these lights were.
