In the 2nd photograph that was taken mere seconds after the first, I captured what appears to be some type of disk.

It appears to be a disk with a flattened top.  Whatever it is, the object must have been traveling at a high rate of speed, as it did not show up at all in the 1first photo.

UFODATA: New Group Collecting Scientific Data on the UFO Phenomena

For the past couple of years, a small team of scientists and professionals has been planning an innovative approach to the scientific study of UFOs. Our goal is simple: to build a network of automated stations with a variety of scientific instruments to capture comprehensive, scientifically valid data on the UFO phenomenon. We have named the organization UFO Detection and TrAcking (UFODATA for short), and several members of our team are well known to the UFO community as pioneers in the study of UFOs in the field, including Erling Strand, Massimo Teodorani, and David Akers. The project was conceived by and is led by Mark Rodeghier, scientific director of the Center for UFO Studies, and Alexander Wendt, a political scientist at Ohio State University.

Our website ( http://www.ufodata.net ) contains details on the technology we plan to use in our stations, a listing of team members (including silent advisers who because of their position do not wish to be identified), an FAQ answering many common questions we anticipate about our plans, and an extensive set of resources on the scientific study of UFOs and what we currently know about the phenomenon.

It has become clear that any breakthrough in our understanding of the UFO phenomenon will require a break from the past. Witness testimony, photos and videos, and government documents have taken us only so far; instead, we need to record and study UFOs directly, as other sciences do with their own specific objects. Of course, this is a daunting task, but it is made conceivable by advances in technology, software, communication capabilities, and power sources.

We believe that the current scientific, technical, and social environment is primed to support such an endeavor as UFODATA. We expect to build on the best work of the past and do what the scientific community as a whole has failed to do: take UFOs seriously and study them rigorously.

Report:
I was driving southbound on Utah state road 65 from the East Canyon Reservoir area (Wasatch mountains) toward Salt Lake City/Interstate 80 enjoying the autumn leaves on Oct. 8th, 2013 approximately 430-5pm MST. Relatively few cars were on the winding mountain road and the sky was very overcast. While driving on a fairly straight portion of the road, a glowing white light caught my eye. The spherical object was approximately the size of a cantaloupe or basketball and was hovering stationary near the top of a large tree. The object seemed to shimmer white light yet did not blink lights and did not change light color. It was a glowing ball of white transparent light. I quickly braked and grabbed my iphone (which was in camera mode as I had been stopping periodically to take pictures of the autumn leaves) and snapped a picture of the glowing orb. Mere seconds later, the orb appeared on the opposite side of the 2-lane road at approximately the same height off the ground yet I did not witness the orb move from one location to the other. It was simply as if it "disappeared" as it moved between locations within seconds. I quickly snapped a second picture before the object simply was no longer visible. No longer seeing the object, I proceeding in driving toward my destination. Once in SLC, I stopped to look at the two pictures of the object I had taken. I was surprised to see that the object (which had appeared bright white to my eyes at the time I observed and photographed the object) appeared glowing GREEN, not white, in the two photographs! The lighted object I witnessed and photographed was not a reflection from another vehicle or street sign, nor was it a malfunction of my iphone camera (inasmuch as I have taken literally hundreds of photos of this seasons autumn leaves on the iphone at varying times of the day and early evening and have never seen a reflective green spherical object inadvertently appear in any of them). The green orbs shown in the attached photographs are what appeared to the naked eye as white glowing orbs. I do not know what it was I witnessed and photographed; I do however know I successfully captured whatever it was in two valid photos.

Strange Object Photographed Over Fort Myers, Florida

Summary: Recurring object in WSW sky, NOT Venus    

Report:
This object has appeared on multiple nights, always between 7:15 PM and 8:30 PM, always in the WSW sky, and remains visible for approximately one hour. It does not deviate in altitude. It changes between two forms, seemingly as it slowly rotates. It is either a triple light or a single orb, always white, and changes in intensity. I have watched it through binoculars and when it disappears, it quickly dims and just "goes out". It does not set. It does not fly away. First the outer lights begin to dim, followed quickly by the center light until it is no longer visible. I have never seen it reappear the same night. There have been three adult witnesses to this and we all agree on the description. First, we believed it to be Spica, then Venus. But planets do not "dim away" nor do they have three distinct lights. We first observed this in September and filed a report at that time. I have contacted our local control tower as we are a few miles from an airport, but they could offer no explanation. After so many subsequent sightings I have decided to file an updated/new report for tonights sighting. Tonights pictures are the best representation I have been able to capture, to date. All three witnesses are responsible, non-drinking adults who would really love to know what it is that keeps appearing in our sky!

Hollywood, CA: Witness Captures Photo Of Strange Rectangle of Lights

The lights were only visible while taking the photo. 

She did not hear any sound associated with the lights.

At first I thought it might just be a lens flare but upon examination, I am not so sure.

Photograph Of 'Something' At The San Antonio International Airport... What is it?

I received these photos and report from a man who on May 2, 2013 at 6:30 AM, drove past the San Antonio, Texas Airport and took photos of the morning sky. 
I've tried to determine if the object in the photos could possibly be a reflection... but of what?  There are no structures of this sort in the area, nor lights to match.

This was all by accident I got these pictures. I was trying to get the picture for the view and bam there it was. I was driving while taking this, so I wasn't paying much attention. I can't explain it. Help?

Those pictures were over san antonio airport, sorry forgot to mention that. I know I couldn't have been the only one it was about 630am give or take.

No other structures of any nature. I to was thinking maybe a reflection as well. But if you look at the picture with lights on it, it seems to be almost the same distance from the tower...I just can't see that being a reflection. Weird is all I can say.

this beam of light is on our moultrie m880 tree cam. i can send an email of the photo. it was 4 am. there is nothing that could have reflected around there. you can see the times on the cam. something had to trigger the cam also. it is on our private camp. off the highway nothing but pine trees around.

Object Photographed Over Nuclear Plant In Hayward, CA

I received an email and these photos from a witness in Hayward, California.   I enlarged the images for a better view of the object.

The photos were taken from Depot Rd. in Hayward, California.   The witness informs me that the object was directly over a nuclear plant, which is behind a junk yard (please see photo below).

The photos were taken on March 6, 2013.   All photos (there are more) were taken between 10:36 am and 10:37 am (Pacific).

This is all the information I have at this time.    I thought at first, that it looked like a bunch of blown up trash bags but the object has some sort of extensions protruding from it.   A colleague of mine suggested that it is some sort of drone.

Photo and Report of Lights Over Tomball, Texas, 2-3-2013

I received an emailed report from a witness in Tomball, Texas, who saw lights which formed a triangle and crossed the sky.  Here is that unedited report.

I was at a friend's house near Tomball, TX and went outside around 7:15pm to move my car when I spotted 3 strange lights in a triangular shape moving from the south west toward the north west. The lights were orange as they came toward me and as they passed, which occurred very quickly. The objects came into and disappeared from view on the western horizon all within a couple minutes. Unfortunately, I was too mesmerized to use my camera on my phone.

I can't really say how high they were, but, I'm guessing they weren't any lower than 5-10,000 feet due to the fact that there is a municipal airport (Hooks) to the south of our location, but they were much too high to be coming from there. Also, the glide path for Houston Intercontinental is just to the north and east of here, and the lights were not in the normal path of landing for that either.

Were there any other reports such as this tonight, or any thoughts?

I imagine most people were watching the Superbowl during that time, so, not too many eyes on the sky. If I see them again, I'll whip out my phone/camera and try to get a shot of it, but I doubt it will happen again soon, it seemed kind of a chance situation.

Please do let me know if you run across any other reports of similarities from tonight, I'm really curious about this.

I didn't realize it, but my son was actually smart enough to pull out his phone a grab a picture the other night.

The colors are almost exact with what we saw.

Light Captured on Game Camera In Nixon, Texas

Summary: Captured on game cam; first seen as triangle, then solid white light.
Report:
Location: Nixon, TX Date on game camera is correct; time is not. If deer had not triggered game cam the UFO would no doubt have passed unobserved. Total elapsed time: UFO at 6:31 on first photo. Faint glimpse in second photo, just barely on left edge of tree at 6:47 on second photo. Solid glowing light at 7:09 on third photo. Total minutes before game cam cycled back to inactive 38 minutes. The pictures taken before these on the same sd card show deer and coons, but no light. The game cam has taken dozens of pictures prior to this incident, from the same mounted position; no light or reflections have ever been recorded before. My first thought was that someone was headlighting. But the third picture shows the light to be above any human height. In the third picture, the light appears to be in front of the small tree; however, a look at picture number two indicates the tree is bent to the right, enabling the UFO to be seen as in front of the tree, but actually just as it bends away from it. Picture number one seems to verify reports of triangular UFO's with three lights underneath. Unknown why there is a solid light in the third photo. I have no explanation for the lights on the game camera. A reasonable conjecture is made that it is not an airplane due to the time lapse.

Photo Captures Beam of Light in New Port Richey, Florida

I received an email and photo from a lady in New Port Richey, Florida.  After receiving the email, I called her to discuss the photo.

On the Friday after Thanksgiving 2012 the witness was lounging alone by a fire in her back yard, when she decided to take some photos with her Samsung Gravity II Smart Phone.  She took approximately 20 photos from different angles.  The anomaly did not show up in any other photos.

"I caught this picture the Friday after Thanksgiving 2012 New Port Richey, FL.  This was taken in my back yard.  I took several photos to attempt to reproduce the same effect, but was unable to."

It appears that the source of the beam of light is well above the ground but the photographer did not see, hear, or sense anything above her.  The beam does not flare, or taper; it has straight, clean edges and does appear to reach the ground.  It seems to be beyond the photographer's foot, well past the campfire.

The photographer also said that she submitted this photo to a paranormal (spirit-related) website but never received a response.  In my opinion, this anomaly does not appear to be spirit related, however, I feel it is more likely to be UFO related.

Report:
My father works in an oil company here in Texas, and they had noticed that some people were taking the crude oil in the night. So they started putting cameras up around the areas. One night one camera caught a UFO. The news had spread throught the workers and they soon emailed to my father. My father had sent it to me and now Im posting it here on mufon. When I saw the picture I couldnt believe how the shape was, it was what I had expected. More so since it was also hovering off the ground. I was used to different ufos mainly because I have seen some since I was a kid. It really got to me that I now have proof of the existence of these entities.

Report:
My son and his uncle was outside watching shooting stars. All if the sudden this object appeared out of no where with no tail (like a shooting star should have) and was quite brighter than anything they had seen. It went in a sharp NE direction stopped and hovered at this point my son began to take pictures with his iPhone. The object changed direction backwards. Then it hovered again for aprox 1 minute and the shot off this time leaving a u shaped cloud. My son terrified called me at work. He is 11. I told him to send me the pictured thinking it was a shooting star and I could let him know it was okay. After seeing the pictures and realizing there was no way he could have got so many pictures of a moving star I realized it may be something else. The cloud of smoke left clearly looks like it was ingaging back into space. I am (was) a non believer but these photos are sure strange.

"Ring Cloud" Object Morphs Over Granbury

A witness in Granbury reports an unusual UFO sighting.  He reports that he witnessed and photographed a ring cloud, which then morphed into a rectangle.

I was observing the meteor stragglers, from 4:00 Am till sunrise.
Around 5:15 or so, low clouds started to roll in and they were were very spread out.
The closer these clouds got to the Granbury lights, the more they were being illuminated.
I was getting ready to take one more twilight shot, in hopes of randomly catching a meteor (6:02 AM), when I noticed a perfectly round Ring Cloud slowly heading my way but it was still way too faint
for my cameras to pick it up.

This cloud was holding a perfect ringed circle, and all of a sudden it morphed into a perfect Rectangle.
I kept saying: "Oh my God" over and over again, because, this rectangular "ring" cloud did not fall apart at all! I watched the cloud travel across the sky for a solid 25 seconds and kept taking three second twilight exposures the entire time. Finally, after the rectangular cloud traveled across the sky for nearly 30 seconds and also spun in a complete 360 degree circle as well,  the cloud fell apart within a couple of seconds, then disappeared entirely.

I was still standing there, catching bugs with my mouth. Saying: "God, I hope I got that on film."

Update! Photos of Meteor-like Objects Over Round Rock, Texas - 10/27/2012

I received an email from a witness who took photos of objects in the skies over Round Rock, Texas, on October 27, 2012.  Are they jets, or something else?

Here is the unedited report.  The photos were provided by the witness, which I have cropped in order for the objects to be viewed.

Hi,
   I was wondering if you have any info on air traffic or space debris that could be seen from Round Rock last night around 7pm. We were in Round Rock west at the Deep Wood Elementary Harvest Hoedown last night and saw something strange in the north and west sky. My daughter called me from the playground and invited me to come watch the meteor shower with her. I looked up and saw what I though was a plane far off in the west sky. It had a bright trail and wasn't moving at an expected speed, honestly it reminded me of a comet. I knew it wasn't and was suspicious of there being a meteor shower due to the fact that I keep a close eye on weather reports and had not seen any mention of any such events. I looked around for shooting stars and saw nothing. My eyes went back to where the plane was and it and it's tail were gone. I thought nothing of it and met up with my daughter. I asked her where she saw the meteors and she said they were above the school but were gone. She said she had seen several and then showed me some pictures on her phone she had snapped. That's when I realizes that these were not typical shooting stars. I'm guessing it was jets from an air show or military practice but I can't find any reports that support my theory. I'd like to know what this was. Thanks for the help,

Here is what happened, normally I am not home during on weekdays during working hours, however my childcare (nanny) was sick and I didn’t have a back-up. Anyway, we went to the boardwalk so I can run a few miles and my daughter loves being pushed in her running stroller… sorry Anyhoo, I was deciding which way I would run first, I enter the Staten Island Boardwalk on Seaview Avenue and Father Capodanno. I turned toward the east and all of a sudden from nothing to a flying object that looked like a STINGRAY it moved like a stingray, it was the same color as a stingray. To me, it appeared to have like a light green and pale pink energy around it and it also appeared DISTRESSED…. It was barely moving and I watched it until it vanished…. It didn’t fly away fast it just became invisible, or I want to say transparent with the clouds. As I mentioned it appeared distressed, and I am not the only one who thought that because the police helicopters were searching, several helicopters for a very long time… I thought I saw it again over the Verrazano bridge, but again in a second it was transparent again. I could see the energy around this thing and it was amazing… Also, as you will be able to see in the photo, there was NO plane pulling it!!!!

Witness takes photos of strange lights over Fort Hood while at soccer game in Killeen

A witness emailed me a short report and photos of several anomalous lights in a sunset over Killeen, Texas.  She also reports that she and others witnessed a jet, which seemed to make no sound.

Here is the unedited email report.


Location: Killeen, Texas
Date of Sighting: 10/8/12
Time of Sighting: 7:12 P.M. Central

Large, flat, bright auras that moved about slowly.  Directly located over Fort Hood, TX.  There were up to 8 total lights/auras.  There were several very long vapor trails in the sky that were clearly from jets to provide great differentiation.  These auras were slightly brighter in the middle and moved slowly up and down.  The auras were bright and very discernible.  All but one disappeared over the trees into the sunset.  The other one went up slightly and then there was nothing.  I told my friend I was shocked that jets from San Antonio had not arrived yet when all of a sudden a jet flew within a mile of us from behind us and you could see the outline in the sunset, but there was NO SOUND from the jet......  Obviously no pictures the jet as we saw it and it was quickly behind the trees at a low elevation.

The lights were obviously unusual and am So mad I did not take video.  Since it was over Ft. Hood we thought it might be something unusual with the military.  When the one simply disappeared that gave everything new meaning.  The jet made NO SOUND and that was as surprising as the UFO.  It flew around us at less than a mile at very low altitude.  You can hear a mower from the area it flew over during soccer games, but no jet sound.

Investigator's Note: Is it possible that the lights were merely short jet contrails?  But then we have to take into consideration the other contrails.  We also have to consider the jet that could not be heard by the witnesses, even though it was no further than a mile away.
