Report:
On January 2nd, 2011 at approximately 18:20 (6:20 pm) hours while arriving from a holiday weekend at my home at Homestead, FL.   As I opened the rear sliding door to let my two large security dogs out, I observed as a glowing metallic sphere shoot out into the sky from my back yard. It went upwards as soon as I opened the sliding rear door and the dogs went out barking.With no sound bolted upwards until reaching cloud cover and made a 90degree angle heading west in a very high rated speed until I could not see it no more into the sky. On the ground I noticed two circular marks on the grass itself. Marks are sort of circular burned patches on the ground with a white powdery ash.

I am a State of Florida law enforcement officer and a retired ARMY Infantryman. I have seen it all in the civilian life as well as in combat; and there is nothing like I have seen before. I have contacted a dear personal friend who is a retired AIR FORCE Commander and he said to contact MUFON before anyone else. This is my second sighting in two years and the closest one of all. From skeptic to beleiver in two years.

Summary:    Stationary object seen in daytime while driving into Yuma, AZ from the East on Hwy 8

Driving towards Yuma on the 8, I noticed a oval or spherical object which looked white over the mountain range where I believe Yuma Proving ground is. I noticed it did not move. After going over the little pass and down into Yuma, I looked and could still see it. It had not changed position for over 25-30 minutes.

In Yuma, we had lunch at the Cracker Barrel and after leaving and continuing west on hwy 8. It was still in the same position, appearing to have not move. There were no other aircraft in site. We guessed it may be something tethered, but it seemed extremely high over the mountains and quite large considering it's size.

I attempted to take a picture of it with my Sony 14 megapixel point and shoot, but the pictures don't offer much as far as detail. I am convinced the object remained stationary, or moved so slowly it appeared to be stationary (this was possible because I was after all moving along the highway and only looking at it periodically).

I am certain this was not a cloud, star, planet, bird, helicopter, or traditional aircraft. It could have been a tethered balloon (if so it was a strange white color, appeared to be almost glowing or softly reflecting sunlight).

The sky was clear for the most part and the sun was bright. I lost site of the object after leaving Yuma, driving West, and it eventually was out of sight from the highway, behind us.

Humble, Texas - Photographs of Unknowns?

Summary:    Jets creating contrails, I took pictures. And egg (?) shaped object showed, after a chevron shaped glow in the clouds showed up. Photographed them.

I was at my workplace in the Humble area, came out the back door for a cigarette break. Noticed a very clear sky with several white jets creating contrails. Visible in the early pics (around 2:00 pm). I took a few shots just out of curiosity.

About 2 hours later, I came out and the contrails had turned into heavy cloud cover with a visible contrail jet still flying over. I took a few more pics, but did notice the odd glowing chevron shape above me. Took some pics.

Later uploaded to computer and adjusted contrast (only) to see better detail, if any. I did not see the small egg shaped object when taking the pics. The chevron was just hovering/floating there but couldn't observe for a long time, I was at work.

The chevron struck me as an oddity and of course my mind started running on the reaction between the contrails creating cloud cover and this odd shape appearing overhead. Who knows.

I am a digital designer by profession and I swear that nothing was re-touched or altered other than increased contrast and adding the red circles to highlight the anomaly. Not even sure it was an object but it sure grabbed my attention. I am an avid skywatcher and have seen about 2o ufo's through the years. Sadly, never had a camera to record anything.

These were taken with an iPhone4 at HD.

The pics are numbered as originally still on the iPhone, in the order they were shot. The first set of pics lapsed maybe 3-4 mins. The second set (4:00pm) were rapid fire.

Witnesses report more mysterious lights in the sky

In response to posts on this blog about recent sightings, I received these emails from witnesses who have seen unidentified lights in the sky.  I present them here, unedited.  Names have been withheld. -SW


I too witnessed the 4 Fireballs moving from west to east (Highway 2909)over Canton, Texas on 1-1-2011 around 10pm. They were silent and pulsing. Never believed in UFO's, but this was unexplainable. How many reports have you received regarding this situation?

Me and my brother and friends seen 4 lights just like you describe. We thought it was something from the base because we live close to carswell airforce base in fort worth Texas. I knew it was not something from the base.

My husband and I live in Racine, WI and last night about (well at the start of today)  midnight, 1-2-11 we were about to go to bed and my husband always looks out the front door before going to bed as he did last night.  He noticed something out over the lake (lake Michigan) and he called me over.  At first I said well its a plane, but in that same moment I new it wasn't.  PLANES MOVE...it was not.  It was just shining there very brightly twinkling / blinking, VERY quickly colors of red and green-blue, yellow!  It looked like a BIG star sort of, except at about three times the size of Venus looking at it from where I live (cause I grew up being told Venus was the biggest, brightest star we can see in our sky)  this was twinkling like I have never seen a star twinkle but with a color pattern!  The most pronounced of the colors was reddish- but to blue-green and then yellow as well.  I was so interested in what we were seeing and wished so badly I had a telescope or something and that I knew who I could contact to know if others were seeing it or if there is anyone who watches our skies around here and could see what it could be but we had/have no idea who???  So this morning I looked up various things online and I came across your blog from today and it was crazy that you are so far away but I noticed to that you said there was more than one at first (did they all go in the same direction??)and that it was going SE which would mean out over the water? And here what we saw was out over the lake, at the distance it was from us the lake .   It was not very high up in the sky and it seemed to be stationary but we watched for almost an hour and a half and it that time it moved very little to the South and a little higher up.

I wrote this to sighting.com as well:
Last night my husband looked out the front door window as he usually does before we go to bed and he sees something strange. He calls me over and at first glance I said its a plane..."no" he says and in that same moment I realized it was not moving it just twinkled/blinked VERY quickly, VERY brightly a reddish then blue-green then yellow. It was not very high in the sky,we were looking at it about the height of the midsection of the power line pole between there and the top of it. We live right on Lake Michigan and it was out over the lake. From our distance the red and yellow were more pronounced but then we could see the blue or green in there too. So we continued to watch and as we did for over an hour it barely moved. But ever so little it had creeped a bit to the south and a little higher by the time we went to bed. We have never seen anything like this and as I am trying to look stuff up I came across this site and a man and wife describe something like ours last night only at 8:45 pm and in Thornton, TX.  Link

I notice that your site specifically has a lot of "orange" light activity. The only thing my husband and I have every seen before and this was a couple years ago. We were driving home going south and in the sky to the left were three "orange" balls that moved straight up fast and then a sharp manuver back the direction it came and then they just DISAPPEARED. We just looked at each other like "WHOA"!!

What is going on out there??????

I really wished I had a telescope last night or that someone seen what we did last night??????

Husband and wife see objects over Thornton, Texas

At 8:45 p.m., the evening of January 1, 2011, several objects in the sky over Thornton, Texas were seen hovering and pulsing lights of red, green, blue and yellow.

I received this report via email, confirmed and attained permission to post it.  Here is the unedited report.

My husband first saw 3-4 objects moving generally SE and came inside to get me and I also saw them. They appeared vertical and some of them hovered and they were  silent. After 5-10 mins they remained stationary at a further distance and remained there for at least 30 min. The objects had pulsing lights of rgby and were not any type of aviation nav lights that we had ever seen.  We live in the country and had a good view and it was clear and about 35 degrees with no wind, also we used a pair of 10x40 bushnells to good effect and with those could easily see the movement and colors. Time was around 845 pm on 1-1-11. Please do not republish this without my permission.

Last Texas UFO Sightings of 2010 - First Texas UFO Sighting of 2011

There were 28 Texas UFO sightings reported to MUFON in December, 2010.  It is unknown as to how many were reported to NUFORC, as they have not updated their site since November, 2010; however, I received reports that brings the total up to 34.  There may be other reports that have been submitted to other websites but I do not have a report on the numbers, as yet.

There were many compelling reports submitted (I have already posted them here on LITS) but here are the last two reports of 2010 and the first report of 2011, unedited.

Location: Sherman, Texas
Shape:    Fireball, Oval

Summary: Object appeared to our north, moving somewhat fast,slowed alot, seemed to hover a min. ,still traveling south, hovered again and went east/south

Report:
We were sitting by a fire in our back yard, I saw something out of the corner of my eye in our northern sky. It was an orange/redish color fireball floating quickly, then slowed up quite a bit, then hovered a minuite,moved southward again somewhat slow, hovered again and then dissapeared to the east/southeast. We watched it until it had moved out of sight. When we first saw it you could tell it wasn't anything we had ever seen before. It wasn't like a falling star, as it changed speeds several times. My first thought was it was a ufo. It was a very exciting feeling to watch this object, however afterwards I looked on the internet and saw where there had been sightings of the same exact thing(there was video) in other parts of the country and world. It started to make me feel a little spooked and weary.

While sitting at the dining room table we saw a bright fireball moving across the sky and we immediately went outside to see. The fireball moved from west to east much like an airplane, but definatly wasn't. The object appeared to be bright orange and on fire.

Summary: speedy orb flying at high speed, turned directions and flew in the opposite direction.

Report:
Me and my girlfriend were driving down I-30 headed eastbound. We were passing Cooper street in Arlington Texas, when I noticed an orb in the sky. The orb was very bright and a fair distance away from us. I kept looking for a blinking light to figure out if this was an airplane. I asked my girlfriend if she could tell if it was "blinking". At that exact moment my girlfriend let out a gasp and we both noticed that the object had changed complete directions, done a 180 degree turn and was now headed in the opposite direction. The orb sped up and was flying at an exceptionally fast rate of speed. I couldn't believe my eyes. Thank god my girlfriend was there to back up my story. We both experienced a low flying object, brightly lit, changing direction in mid flight pattern and flying at an extremely fast speed. By the way I should mention that the flight pattrn that the orb took was originally headed north and then took a turn and headed south and passed right over Cowboy's stadium in Arlington Texas. The orb vanished from our line of sight behind a building, when we drove around the building the orb was well gone.
