A Halo Of Dark Matter Surrounds Our Galaxy

Dark matter 'beach ball' unveiled

BBC News- The giant halo of dark matter that surrounds our galaxy is shaped like a flattened beach ball, researchers say.

It is the first definitive measure of the scope of the dark matter that makes up the majority of galaxies' masses.

The shape of this "dark matter halo" was inferred from the path of debris left behind as the Sagittarius dwarf galaxy slowly orbits the Milky Way.

A team of US astronomers announced the findings at the American Astronomical Society meeting in Washington.

Dark matter is a mysterious kind of matter that makes up nearly a quarter of the universe, but does not interact with light and so has until now remained invisible to scientists.

However, because it has mass, it acts on matter as we know it through gravity.

"You can't actually see it directly, you can see it through its effects on stellar structure, star clusters, and dwarf galaxies orbiting around the Milky Way," explained David Law of the University of California, Los Angeles, the researcher presenting the work.

"So what you want to do is map where these star clusters and dwarf galaxies go and use that to reconstruct their orbits and where the mass is."

Dr Law and his colleagues turned to the Sagittarius dwarf galaxy as one of the best-studied cosmic neighbours orbiting the Milky Way.

Using data from telescope surveys of stars across the full scope of the sky, including the Two Micron All-Sky Survey (2MASS) and the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, the team was able to identify individual stars that had been dragged out of the tiny Sagittarius galaxy as it skims past our galaxy.

But in thinking about the Milky Way's dark matter halo as a sphere surrounding it, something didn't fit; the positions of the galaxy and its apparent speed didn't line up.

Dr Law's team then came up with the idea that the halo might be different sizes in different directions, and allowed for this in their gravity model.

What came out is what Dr Law described as a "cosmic beach ball, squashed from the side", flattened along the direction corresponding to the plane of the Milky Way.

The fact that the un-flattened direction should be above and below the galactic plane remains a mystery.

"It's a little weird in current dark matter models, but it'll be very useful in helping constrain future models, not only of dark matter itself but also how galaxies such as our own form in the universe."

The 215th American Astronomical Society meeting was confirmed on Wednesday as the largest astronomy meeting in history, with more than 3,400 attendees.

Navy Vet Saw Crippled 'Bogey' Crash Into Sea

To whom it may concern, you may contact me regarding my personal knowledge of the Navy’s deep sea UFO / USO 1961 deep sea salvage attempt in the South Pacific, during Operation Dominic-an unprecedented series of atmospheric nuclear tests.

After 48 year , I like many ex-military service personnel are coming out of the wood work to share their UFO/USO experiences – this is mine. I am hoping it will fill in and add to the early 1960’s UFO/USO sightings not reported in the area of the South Pacific. What is amazing to me after all these years I still get a visit from one or two unknown strangers suggesting I think twice before going public with what I know about what I witnessed back in 1961/1962 while serving onboard a US Naval Escort Destroyer.

It was during one of our ships many sea operations back in 1962- patrolling restricted sea and air space. While serving onboard a US Navy Destroyer Radar Picket Ship, I and a dozen other selected crew members was ordered on deck to observe a crippled ‘Boggy’ or UFO about to crash into the sea, not far from our ships location. Later, I was to learn the subject UFO was accidently struck down by a powerful high altitude atomic test missile.

Years later in 19--, while stationed at Guantanamo Bay Cuba I met a Chief Navy Diver who said he was going to write a book about his involvement and a secret Navy attempt to extract a UFO from the bottom of the ocean floor in 1962 during Operation Dominic. I was shocked to learn it was the exact same UFO/USO I witnessed on its way to the sea bottom.

About week later, after our conversation on the UFO topic the Master Chief Diver died under strange circumstances- a day before his 30 year retirement in the Navy.
I have a lot more information on the subject when it comes to UFO and USO human connection, on a personal level. If you want to learn more- I will share documents and a picture taken by a Navy Pilot in 1961, of a UFO near the exact same UFO crash site in the South Pacific.

Another Spiral Anomaly Seen On New Year's Eve 2009

Summary: wormhole ufo?

Report:
I was observing the rising full moon, immediately below but off to the right of the moon there appeared to be a darker place which was like a circular void. Within that void a large X of light appeared.

That X started to spin, and as it spun a lit cloud tube extended from the place where the void across the sky to the right of the point of origin.

At the point where the black void started and where the tube started a tiny blip of light came out, which moved out a distance from the point of origin and then disappeared.

The tube started to fade, but continued to seem un-naturally lit for about 3 minutes as it shortened.

It did not flow away like a cloud, the sky was perfectly clear and this appeared to be way above the atmosphere.

It had entirely disappeared within 5 minutes.

Editor's Note:  Though the witness claims this phenomena appeared to be outside our atmosphere, Was this event similar to the Norway Spiral Phenomena seen on December 9, 2009; in Utah on July 31, 2009; over Tomsk, Russia in 2006; or the one seen over China in 1988?

Events such as this are being reported all around the world.  Could this phenomena be wormholes, the results of HAARP, or (tongue planted firmly in cheek) could this be part of Project Blue Beam, or another malfunctioning Russian rocket?

Two Women Confronted With A UFO in Ocala National Forest

Summary: Stood looking up at a crft on an isolated road in Ocala National Forest.

Report:
My boyfriend informed me that every Christmas I tell him a story about a UFO.  He said he thought the Christmas lights reminded me of it.

This year, he insisted that I research to find any information about what I had seen in the Ocala National Forest.

I had told him of an encounter I had and that it was reported in the Ocala Star Banner the next day. However, I had never persued any information about it.

On May 14, 1978 at night, I was coming home from Ocala with a girlfriend. I was driving down an unpaved isolated road where I lived, when I had an encounter with a craft.

All I can recall of the event is that my friend and I were standing, leaning back against my car, looking up at the craft. It was a hazy experience.

I remember looking at her profile and thinking that the light was so bright, that I could see tiny hairs on her nose. I recall feeling like I was moving in slow motion.

I can best describe the craft as reminding me of giant tinker toys. It had round, pod-like compartments connected with large cylinders.  It had green, white and I think red lights (looked pinkish).  Anyway, the colors seemed to look like muted and blurred neon lights.

I think it was no more than 20 - 30 feet away from us. I do not remember getting out of my car, or getting back into my car and going home.

The next morning I said to my friend offhandedly, "Do you remember seeing THAT last night?" Her reply was yes and that was the end of the discussion.

The event seemed dream-like and I had no impulse to talk about it further with her, nor did she with me.

I vaguely remember something about my friend's face looking like it was sun burnt but I don't recall if my face was burnt.

I remember seeing this object hovering silent and still above us and I remember being outside my car.  Everything else is blank.

My research of this event corresponds with the sightings at the Pine Castle Electronic Center.  So, for any other reports of this sighting, I will attest 100%, that this craft was there.

Editor's Note:  This was apparently a case of Alien Abduction and I would definitely be interested in a follow-up of this case.

The Pinecastle Electronic Warfare Range Tracking Station received a "visual" on a UFO, on a Sunday, May 14, 1978.

"The incident began with a phone call from a civilian. At about 10:05 PM, she called from nearby Silver Glen Springs to ask if the installation was shooting off flares. She had just seen something that looked like a flare. The duty officer, SK-1 Robert Clark, assured her no such operation was going on at that moment. A second call came a few minutes later."

I'm not real sure of date or time. Just know it was dark.

Me and a friend(both about 14) were walking down the street in Covington Ky headed for my house. Had to be later in afternoon because it was dark out. As we started to turn into my yard. I noticed a cigar shaped object hovering over a hill. It had 2 beams coming from underneath, as it got closer to the ground, the light got wider. I say it was cigar shaped because of the placement of lights. It had various different colored lights around the edge blinking on/off. Seems like there should have been tons of reports because it sure looked like it was right above a big housing project.

I went straight into the house and told my mom. She just looked at me like I was crazy. The next morning she had the newspaper open with the story about the 3 women in Casey county Ky being abducted. They described it exactally like I explained it to my mom.

Here is the REALLY weird part for me. My family has always called me Casey. I used that name until I was 18 and was forced to use my real name,,,lol They still call me Casey. Actually just pulled envelope out of mail with it being to Casey Mull. I thought for a long time it was a message. They abducted the women in Casey County Ky to let me know I was next.

Unidentified Objects Viewed Thru Airplane Windows During Flights

Location: North Atlantic Ocean, approx. 500 km WNW of Shannon, Ireland or approx. 800 km W of Glascow, Scotland

Three bright red lights in a triangular (isoscoles) shape over the North Atlantic Ocean, seen from a window seat (facing south) on Delta Airlines #106 flight from New York (JFK) to Frankfurt, Germany. At about 2:00 AM GMT, I was awake on the transatlantic flight at the time the cabin lights were dimmed and many people were sleeping and there was very little to no activity going on. I looked out the window at the stars, and noticed three bright red lights overhead in the one- to two-o'clock position in the sky. Thinking this was a reflection of cabin lights, I cupped my hands over my eyes to block out any reflecting light. The lights were bright and clear overhead, so I then immediately thought these were outside lights. I looked down over the wing lights, and noticed that the right wing light was white; since I couldn't see the tail at all from the window, I realized these were not tail lights. In addition, they were overhead, where I had to actually look up from the window, so I realized these lights were neither part of the plane nor were they land lights, since this was over the ocean.

As this was also in the middle of the non-eventful flight, the cruising altitude had not changed, so the three red lights in triangular form must have been at the very least, 60,000 - 80,000 ft. high. The lights also had a blinking pattern which uniformly looped over and over for the ten-minute sighting: the two left side lights blinked once, followed by the top right light; then the two top lights blinked once, followed by the bottom left light; then all three lights together blinked in unison. This pattern of blinking was happening during the entire time.

In addition, unlike seeing another plane in flight, these red lights were stationary - with the Delta airplane moving away. It was like seeing bright blinking lights on the ground - but in reverse. The blinking lights were above and we were flying below, moving more and more out of view. After about ten minutes, the stationary blinking lights were moving out of view as the plane moved further to the "left," or east. After they were out of view, the view out the window looking in same direction was pitch black; it was then, when I realized this was clearly not a reflection but an actual set of lights in a triangular form, blinking in patterns and 'hovering' over the North Atlantic Ocean.

I was traveling via expressjet from Houston IAH to Louisville Kentucky for business. Facing the plane, I sat on the right side of the plane just ahead of the wing next to the window. Once we reached cruising altitude, I started reading a book.I became increasingly bored and looked outside my window. I noticed a sphere about the size of a compact car approximately 200 feet off the wing of the plane.

It was dull in color. An unpolished metal nearly exact in the image of a VERY large ball bearing, it was perfect in it's spherical shape. Always looking for a logical, scientific explanation to anything paranormal first,I assumed it was a tiny bubble in the glass of the window or ice on the glass of the window. I studied it for about a minute and was astonished when i witnessed it move behind a small cloud.

I immediately looked down the aisle and noticed many other passengers were looking outside the window at the object as well. I looked at the object again and noticed it never swayed, dove or maneuvered at all. It was very static in it's position. This made me skeptical. How can any craft fly alongside another craft and never move, in any manner from it's present position? Anything in flight is always fighting the physics of the atmosphere every second i.e. barometric pressure, wind, air pockets, friction, etc...

I looked for an explanation. Maybe some strange tether to a weather balloon or refraction of light on the window? There was no physical explanation. It was what it was. My mind raced as I tried to understand how something so non-aerodynamic could possibly create lift. I looked for some sort of glow or exhaust or any type of radiation to explain it's terrestrial origin. Nothing. It sat at one position with no presence of any mechanical movement. It appeared as if it was observing us, though there were no visual ports or windows.

I didn't take my eyes off of the object as I knew I was witnessing something extraordinary and oddly beautiful. I, for the first time in my life was truly in awe. We traveled into a thick cloud formation. I witnessed the sphere pass through a patch of thick cloud and never resurface. as soon as it appeared it was gone.

Here is where things got weird. I looked down the aisle to hopefully catch eye contact with someone who was witnessing this event and could discuss this. What I witnessed next shook me to my core. All other witnesses, approximately 20 plus, just leaned back into their seats and continued reading their books, newspapers and laptops as if nothing happened. Why was I the only person who felt as if I just witnessed a magnificent moment? Whether it was a higher intelligence or something we created, it was a beautiful moment.

I reflected on this for several minutes up to the final hour of our flight. Once we reached our terminal,I had totally forgotten the entire experience. How could this happen? How could I forget an experience that shook my entire core and being? Several years later I started to slowly recall my experience. Why did the other passengers not even have any sign of expression on their face after the incident? Why did I totally forget the entire experience until many years later?
