Daylight Sighting in Austin, Texas- 11/4/2011

LITS received an email from a doctor in Austin, reporting a bright orb seen in a clear blue sky at 9:30 am, on Friday, November 4, 2011.

Could this possibly have been simply the sun's reflection off of a commercial airliner, or other terrestrial based aerial craft?  Or was it something else?

Report:

Hello,

I am a physician living in Austin (Northwest) and I was driving northeast in my neighborhood today at 9:30 AM and saw a bright orb in the sky — looked like a planet at night but much bigger and brighter. I was interested in what I was looking at and pulled over to get a better look.  The sky was completely blue and the contrast of the bright object was amazing to see. Before I even thought to take a picture of it, it disappeared. Did anyone else report seeing anything in Austin, Texas this morning?

I didn’t think it was a balloon reflecting the sunlight b/c of how amazingly unchanging it was. It didn’t move through the sky like a meteor or some other debris burning up in the atmosphere — there was no tail.

I’d appreciate it if you could let me know if there were any other reports today.

Email from: Montreal, Canada

I read the physician's report about the orb above the highway and would like to say that i experienced the same thing in Montreal last week!
While driving on the highway on a clear day, with no clouds in sight, I saw a bright white orb, slightly oval looking. I thought it might have been a plane, but all of a sudden it shrunk very rapidly and faded to nothing. There wasn't even a speck remaining, which there would have been if it was a reflection off of a plane; the orb was far too large to be a reflection off of something so small it couldn't be seen with the naked eye.

  1. I don't know if this helps but I live in Waco and about 7 PM last night we were driving south from Bellmead and I saw a strange light that I thought was a plane at first but realized that it really couldn't be. me it looked kind of like a tiny sliver of crecent moon on it's side but smaller and not as round A combination of - and )shaped. It was far off.. and my eyesight is not the greatest in the world. but it definitely wasn't the moon because it was off in another portion of the sky. .. the light was unchanged though the object did seem to get lower on the horizon as we were driving around. we were going to stop and get a better look but never found a good place to pull over. When I first saw it did seem to be moving. I believe I witnessed it move in one pretty fast burst (it covered a good deal of sky in a short time) but then it stopped moving or moved slower.. by the time I had mentioned it to my fiance it had made it's way lower on the horizon making it harder to see as we were driving through down town. It disappeared before we could get a better look at it. It didn't seem like a plane or balloon It was definitely curious enough to distract us from going to dinner. I would say I watched it for about 10-15 minutes before it disappeared.. it wasn't an orb like you saw but it was definitely odd.
