Object photographed from moving vehicle- Location: NY

MUFON Case #   24127
Date:    06/29/2010
Location:    Malone, New York
Summary:    Picture taken by cell while driving Jeep at 55 MPH.

On June 29, 2010, a witness driving to her job as a Home Health Aide, saw what she thought was a hole in the storm clouds.  She had her cell phone with her and took a picture of it. When she got to her job, she told a coworker that she had seen a strange hole in the storm clouds on the way into work.

The coworker downloaded the picture on to his PC and saw the patterns of lights on the object, the trailing disturbance in the clouds and called another person on the phone. The coworker sent the picture to the third party for their opinion.

The third party sent in this report to MUFON and wrote, "I can see the rain drops on the windshield and the image on the other side of the drops, there is no reflection in the glass. I have all the contact information for witness.

Original Photo

Note:  As the person who reported the sighting states, the vehicle from which the photo was taken, was moving at approximately 55 miles per hour.  The buildings and trees across the road are blurred for that reason (motion blur).  However, motion blur seems to have little effect on the object in question.

That could indicate that the object was traveling in the same direction as the vehicle but without knowing how distant the object was, I would be hard pressed to give a correct estimate on the object's rate of travel.  Someone more mathematically inclined might be able to solve that question.

It does appear that it could well be an object in the clouds and not a reflection on the windshield.  It does not appear to be simply a collection of raindrops.

In my opinion, it seems to be an actual object, oval in shape, with what appear to be evenly spaced lights.

About the motion blur, if you in a moving vehicle the object closer to you, You see your speed traveling better then objects far away like the clouds & object there for less motion blur.
