UFO Reports From Around the U.S. - December 14, 2009

Here are several interesting cases from around the United States, that have been reported to MUFON recently.

Location: Florida City, Florida

Report:    I went fishing off a bridge in the upper keys with a friend. We decided to leave the fishing spot to return home- around 2:00AM. We took US1 (18 mile stretch) to get back to the mainland. Once we were towards the end of the stretch a few miles from reaching Florida City(Driving North), I looked to the East out into the darkness and thought to myself; "Hey out there is where that empty military building is- the one that I had the paperwork that Sheri gave me and I gave to MM." Then suddenly, I saw an enormous glow of blue-green light appear from a domed object on the ground just above the surface behind the tree line- about half a mile into the darkness. It was spectacular! It lit up a large amount of our Eastern visible sky. The light seemed artificial sort of like a welders flickery glow, but on a huge scale! I would say the dome itself was at least 100ft wide and a transparent light green color. The Blue-Green light- that emanated from the dome- spread up into the sky making a cone shape above the dome- with a width of over half a mile. It was so large that it frightened us. I had my video camera in the back seat but the battery was dead. I forgot to charge it before leaving my house! Anyway, the the whole event reminded me of what a transformer does when it blows up in the distance, but on a giant scale- lasting much longer- and was more consistent. Plus, the brilliant Blue-Green color was unforgettable. Unfortunately, we were the only car on the road at that time. Alexander Lugones Mufon F.I.

MUFON Case # 20976

Report:    i was driving home w/ my girl friend comming down butler st. towards pittsburgh. it was aprox. 9:50pm thurs dec 10th 2009. saw a large triangular "plane" in the sky. it appeared to be about a 1000 feet or so above the "strip district " area of the city w/ was about a mile ahead of me. i am pretty familiar w/ ufo descriptions,..and don't feel that it was "alien" it however appeared to not act of look like a plane that i have ever seen. as soon as i saw it it seemed wierd. the lights on it were very odd,....and it seemed to hover almost hang above the city. it looked as is it was moving way to slow for it's size. all the lights on it were white. and it seemed to illuminate the sky in front of it as if it had headlights comming from the top. from were i stood when i got out of the car it was about as large a a quarter in the sky,..and my view was then blocked by a building . i saw it come out from behind the building but it's flight was so low it was blocked then again by another building,.. i saw nothing of it after. i'm aware that it could be a military plane. everything i've ever seen on tr-3b however left me to believe that it was not that. i will include a sketch. it was dark however and the plane seemed to be the same color as the sky. the lights were very bright. i am an artist and have a very good visual memory,... i could tell you what it was i saw if i saw a picture of it

Report:    I left a friends house in Montara, got on Highway 92 and then got on Highway 280, i was driving for about 5 miles towards San Jose when i noticed on the rightside of windshield, upper, in the clouds a two lights that appeard to be hovering in and out of clouds, As i passed the lights i saw and they went out of my view, i got off 280 with the next turn off to investigate what i saw. I turned into a vacant parking lot but spotted the lights in the sky before i parked, I parked my vehicle, got outside my vehicle and looked up and there it was, It was 3 white lites in a triangular shape hovering at cloud level, As i looked through my binoculars, i could clearly see the lites were attached to some kind of aircraft, there was no sound, the object was very dark, i say the size of it was about the size of 4 to 5 regular 3 bedroom homes put together. I observed this object hover in the same area for about 30 minutes, i took a few pictures with this old pentax digital camera and only one pic came out that you can see something, i developed the picture at a camera store and its hard to describe what the camera picked up, but its something i have never seen in my life before, the camera picked up what my binoculars couldnt and its one weird looking thing. After about 20 minutes i got very uncomfortable cause i felt the aircraft was getting closer to me and got back in my car and sat there for about 10 more minutes and decided to quit watching this thing while i was ahead. As I got back on freeway, i felt a little confused as to why i got to see what i saw and got confused to the point that it took me probably a extra 10-15 minutes to get home because i missed a couple of turnoffs on the way home. The whole ordeal had me rattled pretty good. I dont think my heart slowed down beating till after a few hours after this event.I am a big follower of the NASA Space program and have always been skeptical of Alien existance and visits, but after last nite, I am 100% convinced with no doubt whatsoever that there is life elsewhere and that life is visiting earth.

Is There Really A 20 Mile Long Space Craft In Our Solar System?

Cassini project classified, because of all the mothership activity filmed in Saturn system.

At 1.5 mln miles off the South pole, a 20 mile (long) craft that is sat in a stationary. NASA and other organizations telescopes have been monitoring it for 8 months, as they watch its trajectory to us.

It is now stationary and there are craft going in and out of this 20-mile structure.

very large planetary structure coming in 18 degrees RA of Neptune's orbit. It should be visible sometimes next year.

Editor's Note: Are those photos of a 20 mile long space craft and if so, what are they up to?

I am also wondering exactly what is meant by a 'planetary structure'?  Does that mean it is the size of a small planet, a real 'Star Wars' Death Star?  I shudder to think what that could mean for us.

UFO Illuminates Sky Near Six Flags In Arlington, TX

Description:    Two powerfully bright lights fixed opposite one another w/ transparent cylindar like object between them.

Report: Travelling North bound on HWY 360 in Arlington, TX. Passing General Motors, I looked up in the North sky, just North of the Six Flags Mall and there were two powerfully bright lights in the dark sky [10:38pm].

The lights were opposite of each other & the craft was stationary initially, then it began to elevate moderately.

The closer it got to the clouds, the gray over cast became lighted and visible like lingering smoke --in the once dark sky.

Suddenly the craft's speed of ascention was rapidly increased and the object shot up into the clouds.

The clouds bore a cylinder clearance where the object had just vanished into-- and shortly there after the clouds disapated from the cylinder clearance form...as if it never happened.

New Cassini Images Show Saturn's Hexagon

Cassini Images Saturn's Hexagon

In the early 1980s, as the Voyager probe was passing by Saturn, it noticed one of the most peculiar space structures that experts had ever seen. The formation, which is roughly hexagon-shaped, is still a mystery for astronomers. Theories as to its origins abound, but none of them has managed to make itself established and widely accepted in the international scientific community. The hexagon encircles Saturn with a diameter roughly equal to two Earths, Space reports. The Cassini spacecraft, in orbit around the gas giant since 2004, has recently been able to photograph the structure again.

Most likely, scientists seem to believe, the structure is a cloud-generated formation, which is able to endure for many years. The jet stream that is thought to be responsible for the creation of the hexagonal clouds keeps flowing at the planet's north pole, the experts say. It is estimated at this point that the jets are capable of slamming into the clouds at speeds exceeding 220 miles per hour (100 meters per second). The clouds were imaged for the last time more than 30 years ago, as the last spring began on the surface of Saturn.

“The longevity of the hexagon makes this something special, given that weather on Earth lasts on the order of weeks. It's a mystery on par with the strange weather conditions that give rise to the long-lived Great Red Spot of Jupiter,” California Institute of Technology (Caltech) Cassini imaging team associate Kunio Sayanagi, who has been a part of the new investigation, says. He adds that, 15 years after the original Voyager photos were captured, the Saturnine north pole was enveloped in darkness.

Unlike its predecessor, the new space probe benefits from a better viewing angle, which allows it to position itself better for observing the Hexagon. It also carries massively improved scientific payloads, including high-resolution cameras and spectrometers, which allow it to collect as much information as possible about its targets, while using limited means. The new photos were taken in infrared, and reveal that the cloudy structure is still in place, and also very extended within the gas giant's atmosphere.

“Now that we can see undulations and circular features instead of blobs in the hexagon, we can start trying to solve some of the unanswered questions about one of the most bizarre things we've ever seen in the solar system. Solving these unanswered questions about the hexagon will help us answer basic questions about weather that we're still asking about our own planet,” NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) atmospheric scientist Kevin Baines concludes. JPL is managed by Caltech, in Pasadena.

Into the Milky Way
OPPL unveils Milky Way images, hosts talk on Saturn mission

Visitors to the Orland Park Public Library traveled to the Milky Way Galaxy and Saturn on Wednesday, Nov. 18, a the library unveiled mural-sized images of the Milky Way Galaxy from NASA's Great Observatories.

The image unveiling was conducted by the library as way to celebrate the International Year of Astronomy 2009, which celebrates the 400th anniversary of Galileo using a telescope to view the sky. The murals will be permanently on display in the Youth Services Department of the library in mid-December. The Orland library is one of 10 in Illinois, and one of 152 libraries in the country, to receive the images.

As OPPL Library Director Mary Weimar uncovered the images, the audience of more than 40 people applauded.

"We've been very blessed in the last five years to get grants to show past and present events," said OPPL Library Director Mary Weimar. "People see the Milky Way Galaxy on the news with the discoveries, and to know that we have the opportunity to bring them closer to Orland patrons is wonderful. It's very exciting.

"We like to be on the cutting edge of information."

The images feature views from all three of NASA's Great Observatories — near-infrared light from the Hubble Space Telescope, infrared light from the Spitzer Space Telescope and the X-ray light observed by Chandra X-ray Observatory.

To also commemorate the unveiling, John Vittallo, Solar System Ambassador for the Jet Propulsion Laboratory for CalTech and NASA, led a discussion about the Cassini/Huygens Mission to Saturn.

Vittallo said that the mission, which began on Oct. 15, 1997, was a 7-year journey, with the space craft traveling at speeds of 42,000 mph to reach Saturn on July 1, 2004.

"With 61 moons, it's a very complex place," he said.

Vittallo said that the mission gave NASA much knowledge about Saturn. The mission included a landing on Titan, one of Saturn's moons, which taught scientists that the atmosphere was mostly nitrogen, with a vast expanse of dunes and a surface similar to wet sand.

"A day on Saturn lasts about 10 hours," he said. "The planet is mostly hydrogen and is sunny."

Vittallo played an audio clip of what the radio waves emitting from Saturn sounds like.

"It puts you in the mood to rent 'Forbidden Planet,'" he said jokingly.

Vittallo said that what this mission discovered at the poles of the planet was something scientists had not expected.

"Measuring 5,000 miles wide and 45 miles deep is a persistent hurricane at the south pole," he said. "It was totally unexpected."

At the north pole is a hexagon cloud.

"There is a persistent hexagon cloud feature that is about 15,000 miles across and it rotates at the same speed as Saturn," Vittallo said. "I haven't heard too many explanations as to why it exists."

Close-up photos of Saturn's numerous rings were also shown.

"I don't want to discredit [astronomer Giovanni] Cassini or [astronomer Chistiaan] Huygens, but they couldn't predict that beauty and kind of detail," Vittallo said, as he revealed an image of the creamy white and light gray rings.

Images of Saturn's moons, including Mimas and Enceladus, were also shown. Enceladus, Vittallo said, is the brightest object in the solar system.

"It's a near-perfect reflector and part of the reason is because it's surface is like freshly fallen snow," he said. "With the lines, it shows evidence that there is something going on.

"It's likely a salt water ocean — a sort of cosmic Old Faithful that spews out water vapor. There is currently an extended mission to fly through the plumes to sample them and see what's down there."

Strange Lights Swarm Over A Michighan Lake

Report:    It was a warm evening and the sun had just about set. I was sitting on the edge of a small lake when I noticed some lights to the right of me coming from the trunk of a tree and then floating around in the tree tops.

These lights were small like the size of a lime as they went up into the tree they either disappeared or become larger to the size of a grapefruit. This went on for a while.

Then one of these lights started to cross over the lake as it made its way across the lake it looked like an elongated tube. It looked like a tube of lipstick in its shape. It had a slight rounded almost oval head. It also had what looked like 2 appendages pointing down.

These objects never had any flashing lights, blinking or Faa lights. There was no noise.

The lights in the trees were a dirty yellow color. The object crossing the lake was also a dirty yellow color with a muted hue of red at the top and had almost a silver mist around it.

Then I saw a huge yellow light come from over the farmers field it veered coming towards me on the bank of the lake.

I called my friend to come out. The light stopped over our heads and it was just above the tree top when it turned into 2 lights. Again, there was no flashing, blinking, Faa lights or noise.

This time it kind of looked like it was attached to something but we could not see. Then in an

instant the 2 lights went out over us and nothing could be seen except for a tiny red light that could

only be seen with the binoculars.

My friend left me and I continued to watch. Then I see what looks like a small ball of light fly from the ground next to the tree where I was seeing these lights. It flew out right over the lake only to be followed by 2 lights behind it that were in a perfect triangle formation.

These ligts all looked the same. They had a small red head and a dirty yellow body. Again no blinking,

flashing, Faa lights or noise.

They flew out and then disappeared. There were more of the small dirty yellow spheres either coming from the tree or going over the farmers field. More lipstick tubes of light also seen going over the lake. All these lights were so very low just a couple hundred feet.

It was starting to get cold and I was having no luck with getting any cameras to work. It was so dark out but it was a beautiful star filled night. Then just about when I was ready to go inside I see a commerical airliner fly over my head.

I was happy to see something familiar. Then just as I turned the other way from the plane I see this red ball of light flying very fast towards the commerical airliner. I could not believe it. This ball was a blood red light was the size of a grapefriut.

This ball of light was right behind the tail of the airplane and I thought it was going to crash into it. I was so scared.

Then the light goes to the top of the cockpit of the plane to what literally looked like it was going to sit on top of it. Then it went to the left of the wing and thats when I ran inside.

During the time of when things started happening that night all the dogs around the lake started barking for a good 5 minutes straight. This happened at least 3 times when I was out there and it was very loud to where we made a comment about it.

Also, a dog from a couple houses down jumped into the lake and started swimming towards were I was on the edge of the lake. This was out of the ordianary.

Huge Triangle UFO Witnessed Over Illinois

Location: Moline, Illinois


Report:    Gigantic black isosceles triangle the size of a large air-craft-carrier ship flew over our neighborhood at 1,000 foot altitude and was seen by me and significant other simultaneously.

We could see lights at the apex of the angles of the triangle and these lights were a dull yellow/white; you could see the structure of the underside of the craft and it looked like a starship as you might imagine in a Star Wars movie script.

The craft was totally silent and moving West to East at very slow speed, estimating at perhaps 15 to 20 miles per hour.

The craft continued East for another 1/2 mile or so -- still visible because the lights of the city were illuminating the object -- and it banked to the left (North) and then took off at incredible speed, estimating at some hundreds to thousands of miles an hour instantly and disappeared into the night in the North.

We were dumb-struck by the sighting. Totally silent, huge, isosceles triangle, structure underneath, lights at apex were not colored red/green or any real color than a dull dirty yellowish. No visible means of power; no jets, no sound, no hum... nothing.

It had to be antigravity being that huge and silent. And the speed as it took off was simply amazing indicating it was no blimp or other terrestrial craft as it appeared to defy physics at that point; from just barely moving to like Mach 10 instantly and gone.

We filed a police report at the time. Police took report and that's the last we've heard of it.

It was absolutely clearly seen and huge, silent... not from here. I would have liked to have seen radar records from the local airport of the time in question but whoever was piloting this craft had, apparently, no concerns about being seen so I suspect the craft was not visible to radar.

There is a military base in the same general locale but this thing was nothing like I have ever seen.

I've seen B-1 and B-2 bombers, etc., and F-114A jets, etc., and this craft was NOT any of these. It was not an Aurora or T3BA either... it was a ship like I have never seen and was not from here as best I can determine.

Editor's Note:  Here is another report that would seem to 'shoot down' the 'stealth blimp' theory.  I can not fathom how even a semi-ridgid vessel could go from a near standstill to thoudands of miles per hours in an instant, without collapsing let alone not being ripped to shreds.

Witness Reports Utah 'Spiral'

In this sightings report to MUFON, the witness claims to have seen what they believe to be an event similar to the recent Norway Spiral.  Here is the report minus the 'all caps' and extra 'periods'.

Report: The reason I enter this is it was very like yet not the same to the lights seen over Norway last night...  I didn't think to report this till I saw the news on MSNBC this morning.

Unlike the video on MSNBC "my" light was followed by a huge red flash.

After a band show (I am a club promoter), I watched a blue/green light in the western sky.

Sugar House area is on a hill in Salt Lake, giving me a huge view of the western sky.  The blue light appeared to be coming out of the Great Salt Lake, or maybe just past it... It's hard to tell at 2AM. Of my group of 5 people I was the only one sober after the rock show.

We thought it might have been lights from some desert party but after taking to my raver friends the next day, there were no parties to anyone's knowledge, that night.

At the time I thought my friend David who runs a light show, had outdone himself.  The blue/green light went away and we saw a spiral 'light show', much like the one we saw this morning on MSNBC.

I do not buy the Norway military saying it might have been the Russian's missile.  For one, the Russians would never test a weapon the day our US president is in Norway for peace prizes!!!  That was no missile and I saw np missile.

I have no clue what I saw but I saw something strange in the Utah western skies, as did my friends.  Also, a lot of people have seen weird stuff out that way lately.

Editor's Note:  It would be best if people would report any such anomalies when they see them and not wait until another such event occurs.

Could this and other similar sightings be caused by terrestrial attempts to create a wormhole, or could they be natural phenomena, alien created wormholes, an errant missile, or the proverbial 'swamp gas'?

Maybe we will one day have the answer.
