Watch what you say!

25 November, 2008, Tuesday, 8:30 to 9:00 PM
Took dogs out to go pee and while I was out there, I saw a flashing light to the N/NW, behind the line of tall oak trees that border our property, seen only through the trees and lower, not at tree top level. I hadn't noticed it before and figured it was some sort of tower, which upon inspection the next day, I confirmed that there is a tower in that direction but quite far away. Just past our fence line, is a narrow row of tall oak trees. Past that is nothing but wide open pastureland and cattle, bordered by more oak trees and more pasturage.
The lights of the tower is was drew my attention. I observed it, then took the dogs back into the house. I got warmed up (cold and calm outside that night) and then I went back outside with my binoculars. I could make out the strobing lights of the tower, fairly clearly. What happened a few moments later, proved to be no tower lights.
As I stood there looking through a large gap in the treeline at the strobing lights, pondering if those were actually tower lights (like on a radio or cell phone tower), I noticed a larger light below the tower light. This larger light started to move up, then back down, and then disappeared, as if it moved behind the trees where I could not view it. I walked out close to our barn, where I thought I might see it better but the trees were in the way. I then walked back towards the yard and stood next to one of our pine trees. That's when I again saw the large light moving up behind the trees again. I stood behind a pine tree and used a nob on the tree trunk, to get a fix on the light's position, to see if it was actually moving, or if my eyes were playing tricks on me. It was moving, definitely! The light made a couple of moves up and down then back up, until it cleared the treeline, when suddenly 4 lights came on, forming a line that was angled 80 degrees left (west). Each light flashed, starting with the lower left-hand light, then the next, then next and so forth, but the flashing was 1,2,3,4 then a slight pause, then 1,2,3,4 again and continuing. I had my camera and tried to take a picture but absolutely nothing showed up, not even the lights from the tower. Then the camera just shut off by itself. I turned the camera on again, held it up to take a picture and it shut off again! I had just put fresh batteries in the camera but every time I tried to take a picture, it shut off. I stuck my camera back into my jacket pocket. I still had my binoculars around my neck, so I grabbed them and looked at the lights again. Moments had past but the object was still there, though it had straightened out (horizontal), to the ground and the the lights began flashing in unison.
These strange lights were just past the oak trees, maybe 1000 to 1500 feet from me. As I watched very intently, only one small white light remained and the rest were replaced with dark red lights. The lights began to rise higher above the trees, maybe 150 ft, then the lights began to recede from me, angled upwards and to the west and simply disappeared into the night sky.
I then walked back past the pine tree, towards the barn and out into the open where I could see the majority of the north, east and west sky.
There were several jet-liners in the sky and all were recognizable, though they were very far away. Suddenly overhead and slightly to the west, I saw the outline of an object that had those same deep red lights. It was slowly moving from west to east, which would take it directly over me.
For some stupid reason and while the object was moving slowly, I suddenly thought out loud, "I know what you are and you're up to no good." No sooner had I gotten the words out of my mouth, that my camera suddenly turned on in my packet (I heard it and felt the zoom lens extend) and the object was coming straight down towards me, at more than twice it's original speed! I turned to run to the house. As I ran for the house, a beam of light came up from behind the house and up over the roof. That was all it took for me to pick up speed. I made it to the house and began locking doors. My camera had shut back off again, as I entered the house. I made sure the guns were loaded and I stayed awake most of the night.
I will continue to watch the sky but I will definitely watch what I say!

UFOs 101

A lot of people don't even look at, or see what is in front of them. So many people go about their everyday lives, unconcerned about the world around them. Well, maybe so. Then again, some just don't acknowledge certain things, either for fear of ridicule, or maybe if they ignore it, whatever it is will go away. Some things just won't seem to go away though, they simply get more persistent, more pervasive, more intrusive. That's how it seems to be with UFOs (Unidentified Flying Objects).

What exactly is a UFO? Well, for one thing, if such things were identifiable, they wouldn't be UFOs, they'd be everyday, ordinary things, such as known military or civilian aircraft, weather balloons, party balloons, swamp gas, trash bags, the planet Venus, you name it. Just ordinary stuff that we ourselves (us humans), have made, or something that nature made. UFOs aren't such things, though they could be. You just don't know what it is, so it's called a UFO.
UFOs by name and nature are "unidentified" and since it may be seen in the air, or seen landing on the ground, it's considered a "Flying Object".

What if you see something in the sky, that can't be proven to be made by man or nature? It's still a UFO, because unless you know exactly what it is, it remains "unidentified". And also, most people are unwilling to believe it is anything other than what they think it should be. I might identify something as a "craft not of this world", while someone else insists it is the planet Venus. It is quite possible that we both saw the same thing, at the same time, in the same location but our descriptions may vary. It is a proven fact that no 2 witnesses are exactly alike, or see things exactly the same as someone else. I'll also note that location and angle of view is another probability that should be taken into account. The front view of a DC-10 looks quite different from a side view, or a tail section view.

Now lets look at why people see things and don't report seeing them, or just ignore these sightings all together. One reason might be that a lot of people feel that they may be ridiculed, laughed at, made fun of, for saying they saw a UFO. Why would they be laughed at? Well, a lot of people don't want to admit to anyone, let alone themselves, that something like UFOs could actually exist. If someone else admits to seeing a UFO, then the "supposed non-believer" is obligated to try an prove, that the one who saw a UFO is mistaken. The best way to do this, is to laugh at the observer.
Then of course, there are those who see and refuse to believe. Missourians aside, seeing is not always believing, right? And what of those that simply don't see what is right in front of them, while everyone else is pointing, staring and calling out, "Look! Up there! What is that?!" Well, best guess is that their minds just cannot grasp something other than what they are used to seeing, therefore they block it out. It's also said by some, that alien influences can have that affect on some people, sort of like being mesmerized, or if you will, mind control. Whatever the source, it has the same affect. Some people just don't "see".

So, what is a UFO and if so, are they for real? Beats me. All I know is that I've seen some things that just didn't fit within my own personal experiences, of what I perceive as normal.

How many types of UFOs are there? How much time do you have and how many people do you know? That many. They range from orb shaped to snake-like and everything in-between. Some even look like "hot dogs and I'm not talking Dachshunds! There's the standard for UFOs, the flying disk (saucer), the blimp type (cigar shaped), the orb (oval, sometimes star-like), the cross, diamond, triangle, balloon shaped, chevron, boomerang, arrowhead, bell, box and well, maybe even a candlestick. There's even some that look like worms or snakes. It seems that if you can imagine it, someone has seen something like it. Is it all just an over-worked, over-active imagination? Maybe some but certainly not all.

Home many people have seen UFOs? Thousands, perhaps millions but since not everyone who sees a UFO actually reports them, there is no true accurate count.

What do UFOs want? I don't know but if I get the chance, I'll ask. Well, I guess I shouldn't say "chance". I have had the feeling for some time now, that if there really are aliens visiting this planet we call Earth, they probably are not all benevolent. Some could quite possibly have bad intentions and I can honestly say that anyone who uses another species for experiments without their consent, are not any better than we are, and heaven knows, humans are not above all that! Just ask a chimpanzee in a lab. They aren't employees, ya know.

How do I know about UFOs? Well, I've been witness to a number of sightings, dating back to the 1960s. Here recently, I began to do a lot of research after I took a photo and discovered a "UFO" in the photograph. The most interesting event of the past was back in 1981, as I viewed the moon one night through a telescope. A UFO flew around the moon, casting a shadow on the moon, as it flew across the surface. We didn't have any astronauts doing moon flights at the time.

I still see Unidentified flying Objects and other oddities. More so now, than ever. Maybe it's because I am willing to see? Who knows but I take photos of them and yes, I get ridiculed, even by my own family members. However, I still know that I am witnessing something unusual and yet I am still willing to report what I am seeing and experiencing. Call me a glutton for punishment but hey, the truth is out there. Just open your eyes!
